The wonderful Merv Isert passed away of natural causes in March 2011 at the age of 70 while enjoying his retirement, backpacking in Laos. Born in Islay, Alberta, Merv lived in the Vancouver area throughout his life until his retirement to Savary Island in 2002.
He lived life to the fullest - travelling extensively, enjoying good food and fine wine, active in wine clubs (notably the Commanderie de Bordeaux) and adding verve to the lives of all around him.
